Guy H. Troupe
Howard in Sociology and received his Masters of Education Degree in Counseling and Guidance from Howard. Formerly employed as a counselor with Associated Catholic Charities and the District of Columbia Public Schools, Troupe launched a career in athletics administration as the recipient of a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) internship in 1991.
From August 1992 to June 1997, he served as an NCAA enforcement representative responsible for investigating NCAA rules infractions. He was also heavily involved in developing the NCAA's Top Prospect Program to educate prospective and enrolled college athletes about NCAA legislation and counseling elite men's and women's basketball and football student-athletes regarding ways to maintain college eligibility while matriculating towards an undergraduate degree.
In July 1997, Troupe accepted a position with the National Football League (NFL) as the league's Director of Player and Employee development. He is responsible for all phases of personnel management, program development and evaluation of the NFL's career transition, player assistance and training and development programs. In 1998, he launched an NFL/NCAA Partnership designed to take NFL administrators and players back to colleges to discuss the value of "life skills" in preparation for life after athletics—the first formalized effort of its kind by a major professional sports organization.
Troupe is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Education in Adult and Continuing Education at Teachers College, Columbia University and is the owner of Troupe 21 & Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in delivering keynote addresses and professional development workshops.
He is the founder and chairperson of BEES, Incorporated, a non-profit organization designed to use sports and the arts as vehicles towards educating youth.
Under the guise of BEES, Troupe created the Save Our Athletes Program (SOAP), which is currently the signature program of the John Starks Foundation.
