Inaugural Donation

On March 1, 2002 the Howard University Football Alumni Association made its first contribution to the Bison Express.  The amount of the inaugural donation was $1,300.00.  Below is the letter that accompanied the donation.

To mobilize former Howard University football student-athletes for the purpose of assisting the football program in building consistently competitive teams, and meeting the long-term developmental needs of current and future student-athletes.

We are pleased to inform you that the newly formed Howard University Football Alumni Association has been successful in soliciting 10 new Bison Express members and collecting $1,300.00.  All thirteen members have selected to have 100% of their donations to be designated for the men’s football program to be used at the Head Football coach’s discretion. This is only the beginning.  We have received several commitments from former football players across the country.  We are encouraging all generations of former players to participate in this and other Bison Express Fundraising activities. 

Pending approval from the athletic department, we plan to host a reception for the new had coach, Rayford Petty to welcome him and also solicit additional Bison Express members. Also at the reception, we would like to present a ceremonial check in the amount solicited as of the day of the event to the Athletic Director and the Chair of the Bison Express.  The tentative date for the reception is April 5, 2002. 

We are extremely enthusiastic about making a positive impact on the football program and the athletic department in general. Along with this package, I have included the appropriate forms to become a member of the Bison Express.  The charter members of the Howard University Football Alumni Association whose donations are included are listed below.

We are encouraging all former Howard University Football players to join the Howard University Football Alumni Association.  All members must be financial members of the Bison Express with a minimum donation of $100.00.
